Recipe Highlights
This is the one of traditional rice food and famous in south India.
Ingredients Cooking Time : 45 - 60 Mins

Small onion- 15 to 18
Green chilli-3
Toor dal-3/4 cup
Rice-1 1/2 cup
Tamarind- small lemon size
Carrot -2nos.( large piece )
Beans-20
Brinjal-3
Potato-3
Raw Banana/plantain -1
Turmeric powder-1/4 teaspoon
Hing-1/4 teaspoon
Chilli powder-1 1/2 teaspoon
Salt - to taste
Water- 11 to 12 cups

To Grind

Shredded Coconut-6 big teaspoon
Small onion -4
Cumin seeds-1 teaspoon

To temper

Oil-1 1/2 teaspoon
Mustard and urad dal -1 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves-10 to 12

Method
Step :1  Cut the vegetables in lengthy size.

Step :2 Heat the pan with oil and add onions and green chili sauté it for few minutes.

Step :3 Then add toor dal with water

Step :4 Add turmeric powder and hing in it.

Step :5 Let it boil  till  the dal is half way cook.

Step :6 Wash the vegetables and add with the dal and cook it. Check the carrots and confirm,  whether it is cooked  or not.

Step :7 Add the  rice. Boil it till  the rice cooked well. Prepare tamarind juice add chilli powder and salt  and pour it into the rice and mix it well.Don't add tamarind before the rice cooked because it takes long time to cook.

Step :8  Grind the ingredients given above in the column "To Grind" and put it in the rice and mix it well.

Step :9 Temper the ingredients given above in the column "To Temper" and mix it well.

Step :10  Keep it in a low flame for 5 minutes then switch OFF the flame.

Kuttanchoru is now ready to serve with Raita and appalam.
