CHANA MASALA / CHICK PEA MASALA


How to make chana Masala


                                         Chana masala / chick pea masala is a simplest and a tastiest recipe. It goes well with chapatti , Appam , Bhatura,  Naan etc..I tried this recipe in south Indian style.

Ingredients
Chick peas / Chana – 2 cups
Oil – 4 teaspoon
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Cinnamon sticks – 2
Bay leaf – 2 nos.
Cloves – 3 to 4
Onion – 1 big size
Tomato – 2
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Ginger Garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
Chili powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Garam masala powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Coriander leaves
Salt - to taste
Method
Soak the chick pea overnight and cook it in a pressure cooker with enough water  and a teaspoon of salt for to 4 to 5  whistles.

Chop the onion and tomato. Heat the pan with 2 teaspoons of  oil and add onion, saute this with little salt. when it comes to transparent add ginger garlic paste and fry it till the raw smell goes off.

Now add the tomatoes.Fry it for few minutes.Add turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and salt.

Fry it till all the tomatoes cooked well. Switch OFF the flame and let it cool down for some times.Put it in a mixer and make it a fine paste.

Heat another pan with oil and add cloves, cinnamon sticks, bay leaf and cumin seeds.Put the grinded paste into it and add water.

Add the cooked chick pea  with water and boil it for 5 minutes.Add garam  masala. Finally garnish some coriander leaves.

Now Chick pea masala is ready to serve it with chapatti.
