Ingredients
- Ridgegourd/Peerkangai – 1
- Oil – 2 to 3 tsp
- Onion (Big size) - 1
- Moong dal – 1 small cup
- Tomato – 1 (medium size)
- Green chilli – 3
- Turmeric powder – a pinch
- Hing – a pinch
- Sambar powder – 1 tsp
Method of preparation
1.In a pan fry moongdal without oil for 1 min in low flame.(dont fry it more than 1 min). Keep it aside2.Chop all the vegetables,onion as shown in the picture
3.Then heat oil in a pan, add chopped onions ,green chillies, tomato one by one
4.Add turmeric powder and hing on to the pan.
5.Now add chopped ridgegourd, saute it for 3 mins.
6.Take a pressure cooker,add fried dal first. Then add the contents of the pan.
7.Add 2 cups of water, salt into it
8.Pressure cook it for 2 whistles
9.After 5 mins,open the lid and smash the dal if it is not well cooked.
10.Then heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds.when it is splutters,add curry leaves. Pour the contents from cooker on to the pan.
11.Now add sambar powder in it. Check salt add more if needed.
12. Allow it to boil for 5 mins.
13.Sprinkle with coriander leaves.
14.Now a perfect side dish for idly is ready.
