CURRY LEAF RICE/KARIVEPPILAI SATHAM

Curry leaf rice is more easy to prepare.Before that i always waste curry leaves.My friend introduced this dish.After tasting this,i never waste curry leaves.Now it is one of our lunch box menu.Here i has given step by step pictures to prepare curry leaf rice.

Ingredients

  • Steamed or boiled rice – 2 cups
  • Curry leaves – 1 cup
  • Oil – 4 tsp
  • Ghee – 2 tsp
  • Bengal gram/kadalai paruppu – 2 tsp
  • Salt as per taste.

To Grind

  •   Scrubbed coconut – 2 tbsp
  •   Red chilies – 5 nos
  •   Black pepper – 1 tsp
  •   Poppy seeds – 1 tsp
  •   Cumin seed – 2 tsp
  •   Cashew nuts – 6 nos

Preparation Method

1.First check the curry leaves without stains or sand.Take the leaves.(Always use fresh leaves)

2..Fry it well on a pan without oil.When it’s color change,take it out.

3.Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan.Fry red chilies first,then fry black pepper,poppy seeds,cumin seeds,cashew nuts and add coconut at last.Fry it well.

5.Then grind all the above things nicely like powder.

6.Heat 3 tsp of oil and 2 tsp of ghee.Add mustard seeds.When it is spluttered,add bengal gram.Fry it well till its color changes to brown.

8.Add  this into rice.Then add salt and the ground spice powder to rice.Mix it well.If you want,add one more tsp of oil or ghee.

9.Now curry leave rice is ready to serve.
