CHOW CHOW KUTTU


Recipe Highlights
chow chow kootu is one of the side dish.In this recipe I have added both milk and water to cook the chow chow. If don’t like to add the milk, just add water into it.
Ingredients Cooking Time : 35 Mins
Chow chow – 2 nos
Milk – 1 cup
Water – 1+ cup
Moong dal –1/2 cup
Chana dal – 1/4 cup
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Hing – a pinch
Salt - to taste
To Grind
Coconut  -  2 teaspoon
Green chilli - 3
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
To Temper
Oil – 1 teaspoon
Mustard and Urad dal – 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves – 1 sprig

Method













Step 1:

Peel off the skin from chow chow and cut them into halves.Remove the seed from the chow chow and chop into small pieces.
Step 2:

Take a pressure cooker and put the washed chow chow,moong dal,chana dal, water and milk into it.
Step 3:

Put turmeric powder and hing and cook it for 3 to 4 whistles.










Step 4:


Grind the ingredients given above in the column “To Grind” and mix it with the chow chow and cook it in a low flame  for few minutes. Add salt to taste.
 
Step 5:
Temper the ingredients given above in the column “To temper” and mix it with chow chow kootu.

Bitter gourd Sambar is now ready to serve.
