TOOR DAL RICE / THUVARAM PARUPU SADAM

Recipe Highlights
Toor dal  rice is a simple to do without vegetables.
Ingredients Cooking Time :40 Mins
Small onion- 10
Green chilli-3
Toor dal-3/4 cup
Rice-1 1/2 cup
Tamarind- small lemon size
Turmeric powder-1/4 teaspoon
Hing-1/4 teaspoon
Chilli powder-1 1/2 teaspoon
Salt - to taste
Water- 11 to 12 cups
To grind
Coconut-6 big teaspoon
Small onion -3
Cumin seeds-1 teaspoon

To temper

Oil-1 1/2 teaspoon
Mustard and urad dal -1 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves-10 to 12

Method

Step :1
Heat oil in a pan,add onions and green chillies saute it for 2 minutes.Wash the toor dal.

Put the toordal to the pan along with water.Add turmeric powder and hing and cook it till the toordal is halfway cooked.

Step 2:

Now add the washed rice in to it and let it cook.
Prepare a cup of tamarind juice, add chilli powder and salt in to it and mix it well.

Step 3:

Check the rice is cooked  or not . Pour the tamarind juice into it and mix it well.(The rice must be cooked well before adding the tamarind juice) Reduce the flame and cook it in a Medium flame for 5 min.

Grind the ingredients given above in the column” To grind”.

Mix the grinded coconut paste into the rice and mix it well.let them cook for 5 minutes in a low flame.

Temper the  ingredients given above  in the column “To temper” and mix it with the rice and
Finally add curry leaves.

Toor dal / thuvaramparu rice is now ready to serve.
