TOMATO RICE

Recipe Highlights
This is one of variety rice  and easy to make with tomato
Ingredients Cooking Time : 20 - 30 Mins
Ingredients
Basmathi rice – 2 cups
Onion – 1
Tomato – 3
Oil – 3 teaspoon
Redchilli - 2
Mustard and Urad dal – 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Garlic – 2 nos.(finely chopped)
Chilli powder –  1/2 to  3/4 teaspoon
Sambar powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Ghee – 1 teaspoon (optional)
Coriander leaves
Salt – to taste

Method
Step :1
Chop the onion and tomatoes.Soak the rice for half and hour and cook it with 3 cups of water.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard and urad dal. when it is started crackling add redchilli then add onion and saute it with little salt.

Step 2:

Add the chopped garlic and saute it for few minutes.When the onions comes to a transparent add the turmeric powder and tomato.

Step 3: Add the chilli powder and fry it till the tomatoes gets mushy gravy. IMG_2952IMG_2953
Step 4:
Finally add the sambar powder and saute it for a minute. add the chopped coriander leaves and salt.

Step 5: Now the add the rice and mix it gently.Don't add the hot rice or otherwise the rice will break easily. IMG_2956IMG_2958

Step 6:
Add a teaspoon of ghee and mix it.

Tomato rice is now ready to serve.
