AMLA/GOOSEBERRY/NELLIKAAI PICKLE

Recipe Highlights
One of the best side dish for Curd Rice.Easy and simple to make.
Ingredients Cooking Time : 15 Mins
Gooseberry - 8
Sesame oil -2 tablespoon
Refined oil –1 teaspoon
Mustard and Urad dal – 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Redchilli powder – 3/4 to 1 teaspoon
Hing – 1/4 teaspoon
Salt - to taste

Method
Step :1
Wash gooseberries and cook it pressure cooker for 4 to  5 whistles,(I cooked it on the top of the rice vessel.I didn’t any water for amla to cook)or steam it.
Let them cool down completely and remove the seeds and separate it into segments.

Step 2:

Heat oil in a pan,add mustard and urad dal,when they splutter,add gooseberries,turmeric powder,chilli powder,hing and salt.Mix it well.
Let them cook for 5 to 7 minutes in a low flame or till oil separtes.
Store it in a container and keep  it in a refrigerator.Use it for a month.(Do not use wet spoon)

Gooseberry  Pickle / Nellikai Oorugai is now ready to serve.
