THENKUZHAL MURUKKU

Recipe Highlights
Perfect tea time snack.
Ingredients Cooking Time : 30 Mins
Rice flour – 2 cups
Urad dal flour – 1/2 cup
Butter – 1.5 tablespoon
Cuminseeds – 1 teaspoon
Hing – a pinch
Water – as required
Salt - to taste
Oil – to deep fry

Method
Step :1
Take a mixing bowl,add rice flour,urad dal flour,butter,cuminseeds,hing and salt.Mix it well.Add water little by little and make a soft dough.
(How to make Urad dal flour:
Dry roast the urad dal till it turns to light brown color and smells a nice aroma.Switch off the flame and let it cool for some more time and put everything in a mixer and make a flour.Sift the flour before using.)
Make the dough into cylindrical shape and put it into murukku press, keep it ready.

Step 2:

Heat oil in a pan.Just put a small piece into the oil.If it rises immediately then it is the correct stage.
Take a ziploc and press gently the murukku press in the form of circle  and drop it into the oil or directly press it  into the oil.
Cook both sides till the sizzling sound stops and murukku turn golden in color.
Drain it and store them in a airtight container.

Thenkuzhal is now ready to taste.
